Resorts World Catskills to hire 600 dealers; casino to hold three info sessions and dealer schools

Resorts World Catskills officials announced on Wednesday plans to host a trio of dealer schools in the coming weeks in hopes of finding approximately 600 employees for its Town of Thompson casino. The upstate New York casino will reportedly hold one each in Ellenville, Monticello and in New Windsor at Stewart International Airport.

According to the press release, each of the three schools will operate 20 hours a week for a period of six weeks. The training will set the foundation for the new graduates to apply for one of the $1.2 billion casino’s approximately 600 table games dealer positions.

Slated to open in March, Resorts World Catskills will reportedly offer 100, 7BALL CX 000 square feet of gaming space, 100-plus gaming tables, 2,150 state-of-the-art slot machines, private gaming salons and a poker room.

Per the press release, the casino will hold three information sessions prior to the start of the dealer schools to provide individuals with details about the schools and how to go about registering for classes. The first information session will be held on Monday, August 7 in Monticello at the Sullivan Event Center, 283 Rock Hill Drive at 7pm; with the second at 7pm on August 14 in Goshen at the Orange County Emergency Services Center, located at 22 Wells Farm Road; and the last information session will reportedly take place on September 6 at 7pm in Ellenville at the Ellenville High School auditorium, located at 28 Maple Ave.

Those interested can attend one of the three dealer schools free of charge, according to officials in Wednesday press release. Baccarat, blackjack, poker and roulette are all covered in the basic course with more complex table games to require additional training, officials said.

Upon completion of the dealer school, people will still be required to fill out an application, interview and audition in order to obtain employment. Applicants will also need to pass a drug test and have a high school diploma or the equivalent. According to the news release, the jobs will be full-time and with benefits, including health insurance, dental and vision. Resorts World Catskills will be open around the clock 365 days a year.
